Working Process
- Material Loading
The first step in the operation of a mobile concrete batching plant is to load the raw materials. Aggregates are delivered to the site by trucks and unloaded into the corresponding aggregate silos. The silos are designed to facilitate loading. Cement is usually transported in bulk and pumped into vertical silos by a pneumatic system. Additives are poured into special bins.
- Batching
After the material is loaded, the batching process begins. The operator enters the specific mixing recipe into the control system. Based on the input information, the control system starts the vibrating feeder on the aggregate silo. The feeder starts releasing aggregate into the weigh hopper. At the same time, the screw conveyor starts conveying cement from the silo to the weigh hopper and the additive metering pump is started. The weigh hopper is equipped with a high-precision load cell that continuously measures the weight of the added material. When each material reaches the required weight, the control system stops the corresponding feeder or conveyor.
- Mixing
After all dry materials are accurately weighed, they are poured into the mixer. The calculated amount of water is then added to the mixer. The mixer starts to rotate and the blades on the twin shafts start to mix the material. The mixing process for standard concrete usually takes 60 to 120 seconds. During this time, the materials are thoroughly mixed to form a homogeneous concrete mixture.
- Discharging
After mixing is complete, the ready-mixed concrete is discharged from the mixer. In most cases, the concrete is discharged into a waiting concrete transport truck. The concrete mixer truck is located below the mixer's discharge chute and the concrete is fed by gravity or, in some cases, pumped into the transport truck's drum. The transport truck then delivers the concrete to the construction site for immediate use.
History
The origins of portable concrete batching plants can be traced back to the mid-20th century, when the construction industry began to face challenges associated with transporting ready-mixed concrete over long distances.
As construction projects began to spread to more remote areas, the need for a more efficient and cost-effective way to produce concrete on-site became increasingly urgent.
Early small mobile concrete batch plants were relatively rudimentary, with simple mixing methods and limited automation. However, over the decades, technological advances have transformed these plants into highly sophisticated and efficient units.
