Recently our sales staff are often asked this question when they meet customers.
Today we are going to talk about how long does it take to mix cement in a mixer?
I have summarized 5 aspects, let's talk about it:
Forced mixer working principle: the rotating shaft boom in the mixing drum is equipped with mixing blades, adding the materials in the mixing drum, and forming a cross flow under the strong agitation of the mixing blades.
Features: Strong mixing method, mainly suitable for mixing dry hard concrete. The forced mixer can be further subdivided into a variety of types according to the position and shape of the mixing shaft, such as vertical shaft spiral propeller type, vertical shaft planetary type, single horizontal shaft type and double horizontal shaft type.

Self-falling mixer working principle: The inner wall of the mixing drum has a radial arrangement of mixing blades. When working, the mixing drum rotates around its horizontal axis, adds the material in the mixing drum, is lifted to a certain height by the blade, and falls by its own weight, so the cyclic movement can achieve the effect of uniform mixing.
Features: Simple structure, generally based on mixed plastic concrete.
How long does these machines takes?
Forced mixer:
Horizontal shaft forced mixer: This type of mixer usually uses an electronic metering system to measure raw materials, and the mixing time is usually not less than 2 minutes, nor more than 3 minutes, to ensure the uniformity and performance of the concrete.
Double horizontal shaft mixer: the total mixing time is 60~90 seconds, and the mixing time after adding all the materials is not less than 30 seconds.
The concrete mixer produced by Xingye machinry can be completed in about 20 seconds!
Self-falling mixer:
Each stirring cycle of the mixing drum is about 100 seconds.
Generally, the mixing time of medium and small concrete mixers is 1-2 minutes, the use of "clean pulp in the stone method" should be stirred for about 3 minutes, and the mixing time of forced concrete mixers is shorter, such as JS500 concrete mixers, as long as 20 seconds. In short, it can be determined by the test according to the actual construction situation. For the small slump (mechanical vibrator tamping for 1-2cm, manual tamping for 2-4cm) with admixture, as well as the use of fine sand concrete, the mixing time can be extended according to the actual situation.

The mix ratio of concrete refers to the proportion of various raw materials (such as water, cement, aggregate, etc.). The difference of mix ratio will affect the physical properties and mixing time of concrete. For example: water-binder ratio: The higher the water-binder ratio, the better the flow of the concrete, but the strength will be reduced. After determining the water-binder ratio, the mixing time should be adjusted according to the specific situation.
Aggregate: The combination of aggregate particle size, specific gravity and other parameters will affect the uniformity and performance of concrete. If the aggregate is too small or the specific gravity difference is too large, it is necessary to extend the mixing time appropriately.
3.The type and ratio of admixtures
Admixtures are chemical agents added to concrete to improve the performance of concrete. Different types of admixtures have different action times and effects, so the mixing time should be determined according to the type of admixtures used. Some admixtures need longer mixing time to fully play their role, so the mixing time should be extended accordingly. Some admixtures are sensitive to mixing time, and too long mixing time may lead to the reduction of its effect or failure, so the mixing time should be strictly controlled.

4. Slump of the mixture
Slump of the mix: Concrete with less slump (such as 1-2cm for mechanical vibrator tamping, 2-4cm for manual tamping) may require longer mixing time to ensure its uniformity.
Mixer capacity: The larger the capacity of the mixer, the longer the mixing time is usually required to ensure that all the ingredients are fully mixed.
5. Construction requirements
Different construction requirements have different requirements for the uniformity, strength and other properties of concrete, so the mixing time should be determined according to the construction requirements.

These are our views on how long the concrete needs to be mixed in the mixer. Welcome to discuss together!!
